Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Oct. 30.

With over 800 attendees and participants, the Chamber’s Monster Mega Mixer was indeed mega. The Hampton Roads Chamber is a powerful economic partner for our members. The camaraderie, enthusiasm and entrepreneurial spirit of the business community was on full display at the Monster Mega Mixer and Business Showcase on October 29th.

In its seventh year this event hosted a record setting 110 vendors who displayed their goods and services. Businesses creatively displayed their offerings by the Halloween theme by decorating their exhibit tables and dressing in costumes. This year the Chamber sponsored a no carve pumpkin contest where businesses were challenged to represent their service on a pumpkin.

Reliance Staffing and Recruiting has participated every year. “This is a great event for our business and gives us the opportunity to both get customers and meet potential employees. It says we know how to have fun as well as be business focused,” said Margie Minnix, Placement Specialist.

Chamber Strategic Partners ADP and Langley Federal Credit Union both had exhibit tables. “Since we’re new to the Hampton Roads community we are looking to expand our presence and sell our services. We offer Human Resource services to small, medium and large businesses and this mixer is a good opportunity to meet them,” said Vernon Johnson, ADP Manager of Field Support.

Langley Federal Credit Union, Assistant Branch Manager, Vilma Corbin agreed, “One of the things that got us excited is that we can really reach out more to the community both through this event and through our partnership with the Chamber.”

In their first year as exhibitors, The Virginia Zoo showcased their events and event space to other business. “We can connect the business community to the zoo, and let them know we are a great resource for their corporate events,” said Lori Lampert, Operations Manager.

The Better Business Bureau (BBB) won for best décor at their exhibit table amidst stiff and spooky competition. They earned a free table at next year’s Mega Mixer. Flying Locksmith won for most creative table and also earned a free table for next year’s event. Primrose Schools won the popular vote for best pumpkin.
