3.3 percent of University of Virginia-Main Campus students played sports on university teams in 2016-2017


In 2016-2017, 3.3 percentage of University of Virginia-Main Campus students participated in collegiate sports, according to data made available by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES).

University of Virginia-Main Campus has 16,655 undergraduate students, of which 55 percent are women and 45 percent are men, and a total student body of 24,360 students. Of these students, 426 men and 379 women represented the school by participating in one or more of the sports with teams at the school.

This total does not include students playing intramural sports.

According to NCES, 4.3 percent of students enrolled at institutions of higher education with sports teams were on teams.

The sports at University of Virginia-Main Campus with the most participants are all track combined (189), football (108) and lacrosse (83).
