Virginia Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on March 7.
Blairs, Va. (March 6, 2019) – The Danville Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce will host a regional economic summit on Wednesday, March 13, at 11:30 a.m. at the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research (150 Slayton Ave., Danville). Brian Ball, Virginia Secretary of Commerce and Trade, will deliver keynote remarks on economic development trends at the state level.
Evan Feinman, Executive Director of the Tobacco Region Revitalization Commission and the governor’s Chief Broadband Advisor, will focus on the critical role that the commission plays in economic development across the region, specifically in education and workforce funding and megasite funding/industrial site development.
A panel discussion on the importance of regional partnerships in advancing economic development initiatives will follow. Panelists are Mike Dougherty, Director of Economic Development, City of Eden; Linda Hutson Green, Executive Director, Southern Virginia Regional Alliance; Matt Rowe, Director of Economic Development, Pittsylvania County; and Telly Tucker, Director of Economic Development, City of Danville. Brian Bradner, Associate Vice President/Office Manager, Dewberry, will moderate.
“The Chamber is proud to convene a very high caliber of speakers and panelists for this regional conversation about our economy,” noted Chamber Board Chair Christine Baggerly. “It’s a testament to all the good work many partners are doing here in Southern Virginia, and to the positive profile our regional collaboration gives us around the state.”
