Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on March 26.
Vandeventer Black LLP is pleased to announce that Jean M. Stallard, Of Counsel to the firm, has been elected to serve as a board member of the Tidewater Community College Educational Foundation.
As the largest provider of higher education in Hampton Roads, TCC enrolls nearly 40,000 students annually. For over 50 years, TCC has served both students and employers and has grown from one campus into a regional educational and economic force. Due in part to scholarships from the TCC Educational Foundation, three in five TCC graduates have no student debt.
“As a Tidewater native, I am honored to join this outstanding group of community leaders in supporting TCC as it embarks upon a campaign representing the largest set of educationally-focused programs in Hampton Roads. I am especially excited about plans for the Perry Center, which will transform Downtown Norfolk,” said Stallard.
Stallard’s community involvement also includes serving on the Board of Directors of the Samaritan House Foundation. Samaritan House provides emergency and permanent housing, support services and community outreach to victims of domestic violence and homeless families. Additionally, she served as a finalist mentor in the 757 Accelerate Program, a Hampton Roads selective startup program that provides promising founders capital without taking equity, and connections to customized mentors, investors, and resources.
Stallard is a business law attorney with extensive experience in commercial transactions, corporate and securities law, private equity, and venture capital, software companies and energy sector operations. She was a co-founder, vice president and general counsel of an NYSE-listed energy company and served as in-house counsel at multiple Fortune 500 corporations.
Stallard received her B.A. from Duke University and her J.D. from Vanderbilt University School of Law. For more information about these organizations, please visit tcc.edu, advancement.tcc.edu, and VanBlackLaw.com
