VIRGINIA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE: Virginia Premier Recognized for Hiring Female Military Veterans

Virginia Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on May 22.

Richmond, Va. (May 17, 2019) — For the second year in a row, the Virginia Department of Veterans Services (DVS) has presented an award to Virginia Premier for its “outstanding commitment” to the hiring of women veterans of the U.S Armed Forces. Of 134 large-size companies nominated for their participation in the Virginia Values Veterans (V3) program, Virginia Premier was recognized for hiring the most female veterans in 2018: 5.

This prestigious award, established in 2018, was presented during the general session of the 2019 Virginia Women Veterans Summit today in Hampton. The award recognizes the number of women veterans hired by V3 partner companies and organizations during the calendar year 2018.There were four categories based on the number of employees: Enterprise (1000+), Large (301-1000), Medium (51-300), and Small (1-50).

“We’re thrilled to receive this award again and to be counted among so many great companies that share our commitment to hiring military veterans,” said Virginia Premier CEO Linda Hines. “The skills our veterans have gained through their military experience, as well as their dedication to service and leadership, are invaluable to the work we do at Virginia Premier to provide access to affordable health care for those in need.”

The Commonwealth is home to more than 104,000 women veterans, making it the highest percentage of women veterans of any state in the country. Virginia Premier has employed 54 women veterans since 2012.
