HAMPTON ROADS CHAMBER OF COMMERCE: BRAVO! A Celebration of Leadership
Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on May 31.
Hampton Roads Chamber proudly celebrated the 31st LEAD Hampton Roads Graduating Class at BRAVO! on Thursday, May 30th at the Norfolk Waterside Marriott. LEAD is a program of the Hampton Roads Chamber. The event marks the completion of the 2019 LEAD Class for the 48 new leaders.
The First Citizen of Hampton Roads Award, Julian Hirst Distinguished Alumni Award, and the Visionary Leadership Award were presented to three exceptional leaders from the region.
CEO and Executive Director, Virginia Port Authority, John Reinhart was honored as the 2019 First Citizen of Hampton Roads. This distinguished award highlights a particular citizen who practices courageous leadership in the face of adversity and complacency. Reinhart was recognized as being an individual who exemplifies these traits and acts with an emphasis on collaboration across traditional boundaries. “It is truly an honor to be recognized as First Citizen. And being given this award with the LEAD graduating class is a treat because I am sitting with tomorrow’s leaders. I am humbled and honored,” said Reinhart.
President, Sales and Operations Ainslie Group, Jeffrey Ainslie received the 2019 Julian Hirst Distinguished Alumni Award. This award is named for a distinguished City Manager of Norfolk and a founder of LEAD Hampton Roads. Ainslie parallels the qualities of the award by demonstrating excellence in community and professional leadership.
Director, Brock Institute EVMS, Cynthia Romero, M.D. received the 2019 Visionary Leadership Award. Romero is recognized as a leader who combats challenges by delivering solutions while also inspiring creativity and collaboration. Overcoming challenges requires a courageous leader who works tirelessly to enhance the region’s quality of life.
The evening concluded with a resounding, “BRAVO!” to the 48 members of the 2019 LEAD Graduating Class and the award recipients.
