Graduates earn 202 degrees from Hollins University


About 26.7 percent of the 202 degrees and certificates handed out by Hollins University in 2017-18 were to students in visual and performing arts programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the private not-for-profit institution in Roanoke conferred 28 bachelor's degrees and 26 master's degrees in visual and performing arts programs.

But the single most popular program was for a master's degree in "other" English language and literature/letters. Data shows the school gave out 18 master's degrees in "other" English language and literature/letters, followed by 17 master's degrees in general dance and 17 bachelor's degrees in general biology/biological sciences.

The university enrolled 790 students for 2017-18, including 645 in undergraduate programs and 145 in graduate programs.
