69 percent of applicants to Southern Virginia University were admitted for fall 2018


At Southern Virginia University, 85 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 53 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year private not-for-profit institution in Buena Vista enrolled 1,023 students in fall 2018, all in undergraduate programs, data shows. 7.6 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

12 percent of undergraduates are residents of Virginia, and 84 percent are residents of other states. 1 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (72 percent) and two or more races (7 percent).

The school admitted 69 percent of the 956 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 47 percent enrolled.
